Today (Tuesday 21st April 2015), Google launches its new search engine algorithm.

What could this mean for your business?

Well, if your website is already Mobile Responsive, then you can rest easy. However, if your website is not mobile friendly, then today’s launch could see your business listing slip down the rankings on a Google search.

Why?

Google’s new ‘Mobile Friendly’ algorithm takes into account how most people now access internet searches; using mobile devices, be it phone or tablets. And so sites that are responsive (the content of the site will adapt to the screen you are viewing the site on), are now getting more prominence on the Google search engine results.

As a Google representative puts it: “As people increasingly search on their mobile devices, we want to make sure they can find content that’s not only relevant and timely, but also easy to read and interact with on smaller mobile screens.”

This new algorithm release by Google will send a message to companies that have poorly configured websites, that optimising their website for mobile responsiveness is no longer a choice but a matter of urgency.

For developers like us here at AVAMAE, we strive to ensure that all the sites we design and build are mobile responsive. That is good news for our clients, as they can be sure that with their responsive site they will not be dropping down the Google search results.
